Shareef Amer Board Member
Shareef joined Create a Smile in 2018 as a member of the Board of Directors. In his capacity as a Board member, Shareef uses his legal expertise to help mitigate risk while guiding Create a Smile towards achieving its long term goals. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2010, Shareef went on to study at the University of Tennessee College of Law. Following graduation from law school in 2013, Shareef began his career in the field of sports law within the University of Michigan Athletic Department. Personal and career aspirations led Shareef and his wife, Kallie, to move to Los Angeles, where he currently serves as the Director of Athletic Compliance at CSUN. Shareef’s motivation for becoming involved in Create a Smile stemmed largely from witnessing the impact that Childhood Cancer had on families close to him. He saw firsthand how easy it is for a family to grasp at signs of hope and seek positivity during a period of time when they are often bombarded with negativity. Shareef tries to use his skill set to help Create a Smile maximize the impact the organization has on its SmileChildren and their families. Shareef and his wife, Kallie, have been married since 2012 and are the proud parents of their son Tarek, born in 2017 and Ziyad born in 2019. In his spare time, Shareef enjoys playing and watching sports, especially soccer, hiking, exercising, and enjoying time with his family.
